Within the scope of the Public Research Support Group (KAMAG), public institutions are preparing a call for artificial intelligence solution needs.

The aim of the KAMAG Turkey Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem program is to develop artificial intelligence solutions needed by our public institutions, to use and disseminate the know-how in the field of artificial intelligence already established in universities/public research centers for these solutions, to direct artificial intelligence ecosystem actors to an active cooperation model and to increase knowledge and experience in the field of artificial intelligence. This program is expected to act as a catalyst to activate the Turkish Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem and contribute to this ecosystem in many ways.

Within the scope of this program, it is aimed to achieve the gains listed below by activating the Turkish Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem:

  1. Artificial intelligence solutions needed by the public sector will be developed by our technology provider companies with university contributions,
  2. Transferring the know-how in the field of artificial intelligence, which is already established in university/public research centers, into practice,
  3. Supporting the artificial intelligence entrepreneurship ecosystem,
  4. Directing artificial intelligence ecosystem actors towards an active cooperation model,
  5. Organizing the data needed in the field of Artificial Intelligence and available in the public domain and making it available to the Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem without violating the principle of privacy,
  6. The knowledge to be obtained as a result of the project will be collected within the body of AI and used in further studies and projects. Thus, ensuring the continuity of the development of artificial intelligence in our country.

In this context, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Artificial Intelligence Institute will take an active role in the creation and finalization of projects and in the creation of post-project knowledge and dissemination of outputs. To this end, project outputs such as generalized solutions catalogue, anonymized usage scenarios database, lessons learned and communication platform, reusable software libraries and method/tool recommendation system will be collected within AII.

Five priority areas have been identified under this program. These priority areas have been identified as follows:

(1) Smart Manufacturing Systems,

(2) Smart Agriculture, Food and Livestock,

(3) Financial Technologies,

(4) E-Commerce Technologies,

(5) Impacts of Climate Change.

The thematic area of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems has many applications in the field such as predictive maintenance applications such as product quality prediction and defective parts/product detection, optimization of factors affecting product quality, prediction of safety problems, etc., supply chain, real-time status analysis of production with sensors containing artificial intelligence in the industrial internet of things (IoT) used in production and application of methods that reduce energy consumption. Due to the increasing critical importance of food supply and security, AI-based solutions to be developed in the field of smart food, agriculture and animal husbandry are expected to bring significant benefits to the sector.

Turkey's high level of maturity in financial technologies, another priority area, is expected to facilitate the integration of the solutions to be developed into the financial system. With the studies to be carried out in the e-commerce thematic area, artificial intelligence R&D studies aimed at solving the real field problems faced by the sector and artificial intelligence applications and researches that can be carried out on the big data generated/to be generated in the e-commerce sector are targeted.

The effects of climate change, which has caused various natural disasters in our country as well as all over the world in recent years, has been identified as another priority area, and artificial intelligence solutions to be developed to predict such disasters and take necessary measures will also be supported within the scope of the program.

Applications, which will open in May, are expected to be submitted by at least one company as a technology provider together with the public institution in need, at least one university research laboratory/center or public research center/institute with experience in this field, and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Artificial Intelligence Institute (YZE).
